The Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund, Inc., supports both new and established researchers investigating the causes, prevention and treatment of breast cancer. This research will include—but not be limited to—studies of the genetic, molecular, cellular and environmental factors involved in the development and progression of breast cancer; application of the knowledge thus gained to educate medical professionals and increase public awareness for the prevention, detection and treatment of breast cancer; and studies of the outcomes of breast cancer detection and treatment on the patient, their families and society.
Carol M. Baldwin serves as Chairwoman of the Board, supervising all aspects of organizational growth for both the Upstate and Downstate boards. As a breast cancer survivor, she uses her experience to heighten understanding of this disease. She is a popular public speaker and is actively involved in strategic planning, continuing her crusade and raising funds to support research. Carol often appears on television and she has received many prestigious awards for her work with breast cancer research.
Elizabeth Baldwin is a breast cancer crusader who has been actively involved in a search for the cure for over 15 years. A devoted mother of 6 and the daughter of Carol Baldwin, she helped to create the Upstate chapter in hopes of finding a cure for breast cancer in her lifetime. Elizabeth is dedicated to raising funds to provide research grants for breast cancer while providing emotional support for those individuals and their families who have been stricken with this disease. Elizabeth enjoys spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
